Part 2
Part 2 - Show Me the Money!

In this part you will need to create a spreadsheet to find the value of each investment option over 10 years.  Try to pick the best example for each option. You will have to create a table and input the formulas to calculate the values. Check out the links on the left for some pointers and hints.

Formulas must be used for calculating the values!

You will need to include the following in your spreadsheet.
  • An example of each investment option given in Part 1

    • Pick the highest interest rate in each option.

  • Details of each investment including rates and growth patterns.
  • The value for each option in each of ten years.
  • You will need formulas in your spreadsheet that utilize cell names for the following investment options.
    • Savings accounts

    • Checking accounts

    • Certificates of deposit.

    • Uncle Vinnie

  • You will use the savings bond calculator to find the value for each year of the savings bond.  Remember to change the issue date to the month and year ten years ago.  You will have to use the calculator 1 time for each year.

  • You may enter the values for Aunt Minnie without formulas.  You will be entering the total amount she has paid you back in each of the ten years.
