Dear Parents,

The 2007-2008 school year will be full of excitement and learning!  We have many things in place to make the school year memorable for your children.

We have quite a few changes in store for the coming year.  These changes include several new teachers at Seaview.  In First Grade, we welcome Tara Lhulier and Jessica Melamed. They are filling in for Mrs. Grasso and Mrs. Mansueto respectively.  Also in first grade, Miss Hagen is filling in for Mrs. Derbyshire. Third grade welcomes Miss Bahr as she starts the year for Mrs. Prendergast. In Special Education we are pleased to include Miss Pellegrino.  Finally, Mrs. Yakopcic joins us from Belhaven as our Librarian.  All of these teachers will enhance our already fine program!

Seaview Camp is an exciting new initiative!  This before and after school program is designed to provide students with quality child care in a secure and fun environment.  The program is staffed with personnel that are Linwood Board of Education approved.  Children who participate will love the games, crafts and other entertaining activities!

Technology continues to make major leaps.  Thanks to the Linwood Education Foundation, we are adding an LCD projector to a first and a second grade classroom.   LCD projectors are a unique teaching tool that allow teachers to project information from their computer and the Internet onto a classroom screen. The use of LCD’s can improve the way in which we share information with students.  Parents and students are already experiencing this teaching tool in most special education rooms along with all third and fourth grade classrooms.

We are continuing our STARSS and Bullyproofing programs.  Through these programs your children will learn to be part of a school culture that is emotionally comfortable for all students.  Be sure to reinforce the STARS concepts at home!

Finally, I thank you for your constant participation and support of Seaview!  It is the Linwood families that make our school so strong.  Your involvement makes the difference!

Yours in Educating Our Children,

Susan S. Speirs
